U.S. and Georgia to Cooperate on Low-Emissions Growth

USAID Mission Director Stephen M. Haykin and the Minister of Environment of Georgia Khatuna Gogaladze signed a memorandum of understanding on a low emissions development strategy for Georgia on Monday, December 17 at 1:45p.m. at the Ministry of Environment.

Enhancing Capacity for Low Emission Development Strategies (EC¬LEDS) is a U.S. Government program to support countries’ efforts to pursue long term, transformative development and economic growth while slowing the growth of greenhouse gas emissions.

The document signed on Monday will lay the foundation for cooperation between USAID and the Government of Georgia on programs that will help reduce threats posed by global climate change by making Georgia’s economy more efficient, resilient, and sustainable.
