Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding/Joint Civic Education Workshop

Acting Mission Director Joakim Parker signs a memorandum of understanding with eight universities formalizing cooperation on a university-level civic education program.
TBILISI – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) signed a memorandum of understanding with eight universities formalizing cooperation on a university-level civic education program that helps strengthen Georgia’s democratic culture and encourate civic participation.
The initiative, a part of IFES’ USAID-funded university civics course project, which has already reached over 800 Georgian students through interactive coursework, is being developed to improve the level of instruction and information on civic responsibility and citizen participation in Georgia’s public life. USAID’s new partner universities are: Georgian Institute of Public Affairs, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University, Akhaltsikhe State Teaching University, Akaki Tsereteli State University, Sokhumi State University, Gori Teaching University, Shota Meskhia Zugdidi State Teaching University and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.
The signing ceremony was followed by joint civic education workshop.
