U.S. Government Sponsors the Georgia IT Innovation Conference 2009
U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John R. Bass and Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri will open the 2009 Georgia Information Technology (IT) Innovation Conference on October 29, 2009, 10:00 am. The Ambassador will be joined by representatives from the governments of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The conference takes place on October 29th and 30th at the Sheraton Metechi Palace. The Georgia IT Innovation Conference will promote and establish effective partnerships among public, private and NGO sector organizations in the region to increase innovation and competitiveness. The conference will cover several IT related topics, including e-governance, cyber security, regional telecommunication market development, policy development, intellectual property rights and the socio-economic implications of IT. The conference concludes with an award ceremony honoring efforts in the public and private sector to introduce and implement best practices that further develop the ICT sector in the region. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Microsoft Corp. and Hewlett-Packard have partnered with the Information and Computer Technology (ICT) Business Council of Georgia and State Commission of E-Governance Development of Georgia to host the event. MagiCom and Next Generation Technologies are sponsoring the conference.
