Interventions address workforce development needs and performance gaps within the organizations that have yet to overcome internal management, organization and skills barriers to effective and efficient operation. Activities include vocational education and accreditation in the education sector; skills- and institutional capacity-building in governmental agencies and ministries; and strategic training and technical assistance. Small Grants & South Caucasus Cooperation Eurasia Foundation Dec. 2001 - Dec. 2010 www.epfound.ge The program is designed to advance economic and political reform through small grants to Georgian NGOs in the area of civic participation and civic monitoring, youth development, elections, public-private partnerships, European integration, cross-border initiatives, and philanthropy. Community Connections World Learning Sept. 2005 - Sept. 2010 www.projectharmony.com The program addresses skills enhancement and public diplomacy goals through professional exchange programs in the U.S. Groups of professionals representing civil society organizations, local governments, professional associations, educational institutions and entrepreneurs are sent to the U.S. for three to five weeks for intensive training on topics selected each year and to increase their understanding of the environment in which private businesses and civil society can flourish. Small Project Assistance Peace Corps Sept. 2006 - Sept. 2011 www.peacecorps.gov The project enables Peace Corps Volunteers to conduct low-cost, grassroots sustainable development activities, such as English teaching and methodology skills; business, economic, and organizational development; and project design and management. Grants are provided to community groups to fund training of women and vulnerable populations in health and life-skills; rehabilitate buildings to improve physical conditions; organize leadership camps for youth; and support economic development projects. |
